Offense, Inc. Goals |
The goals of Operation Offense are to Educate, Prevent and Intervene in the areas
of chemical use, abuse, and dependency with athletes. A. Education
Operation Offense seeks to educate coaches, boosters, parents and school staff
on chemical issues. Efforts will focus on integrating awareness of these issues
into community wide athletic programming and special events. B.
Prevention Operation Offense is primarily concerned
with preventing chemical use, abuse and dependency. Prevention focuses on the
encouragement of chemical-free lifestyles and the philosophy that there is no
responsible use of any chemicals by adolescents as chemicals impede individual
growth, maturity and development. C. Intervention To
the extent that chemical use, abuse and dependency exist at this point of time,
Operation Offense concerns itself with preventing further progression by intervening,
where appropriate, to stop the progression. The goal is to intervene in those
situations where continued use of chemicals appears to indicate progression into
more intense problems and to refer such youth to appropriate school and community
resources.
